Nepal Pride Parade observed in Kathmandu today

KATHMANDU: Nepal Pride Parade was organized in Kathmandu today. The month of June is celebrated as Pride Month according to the Christian calendar around the world. Various identity groups under the gender and sexual minority population celebrate this month in a special way.

Youths from all groups gathered at Shanti Batika, Ratnapark and marched to Narayan Chaur, Naxal. The ‘Pride’ Parade was organized with the slogan of not being ashamed of one’s gender identity and sexual identity because society disregards these different groups of identities and stigmatizes it as a matter of shame.

The gathering and rally program held on the occasion of Pride Month is called Pride Parade. To commemorate the Stonewall Rebellion of the 1960s, this month has been designated as Pride Month.
