Police bust a racket involved in producing fake PCR reports

by .KATHMANDU : Police have busted a group of people active in producing negative PCR reports without collecting swab samples from people.
Police busted the racket after it was learnt that a team comprising the operator of Kathmandu, Sinamangal-based Subidha Healthcare Pvt Ltd and Merit Multi Care Medical Center Pvt Ltd was found involved in such unscrupulous practice.
According to the Metropolitan Crime Division, police arrested eight persons including the two for their alleged involvement in preparing negative PCR reports required for the purpose of overseas employment without collecting swab samples. The police team deployed for the investigation on the basis of a special tip-off arrested them with fake PCR reports on Tuesday evening.
The arrested persons include a 45-year-old Chitra Bahadur Rayamajhi, known as Prakash Rayamajhi, of Jhapa Gauradaha and currently residing in Pepsicola, Pramod Kumar Yadav of Saptari, Pradeep Kumar Giri of Mahottari Gaushala, Aman Kumar Yadav of Mahottari, Bajresh Pokharel of Morang, Badal Miring Thing of Mahottari, Saroj Chhetri of Dolakha Chaiteswori and Dr Khelananda Prasad Singh of Madhyapura in Saptari district.
The police team also seized equipment including computers used for producing fake PCR reports. Police have launched further investigation into the fraudulence by shutting the services of Suriya Healthcare Pvt Ltd. The arrested persons are found producing a fake PCR report by charging Rs 9,000.
