by .KATHMANDU : Upendra Yadav faction of Janata Samajwadi Party’s has announced a legal and political battle against the Election Commission’s decision on Sunday. However, Mahanta Thakur’s faction has welcomed the decision of the commission.
JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav said that they were preparing to go to court against the decision of the commission. “We are preparing to go to court against the EC’s decision. This will be discussed in the meeting on Tuesday,” he said.
A leader close to the Yadav-led faction of the JPS and the party executive committee member Ram Sahay Yadav said that a legal and political battle would be fought against the commission’s decision.
According to the Yadav faction, the decision was taken under the influence of the government even after collecting the signatures of the majority members of the party’s executive committee. The commission on Sunday decided to revoke the expulsion of both Thakur and Yadav from the party. The commission has recognized the former office bearers with two chairpersons in the party.
However, leaders close to the Thakur-led faction of the party have welcomed the decision of the EC. A leader belonging to the Thakur-led faction of the party, Bimal Srivastava, said the EC’s decision was positive and that they welcome the decision. “The commission’s decision has united the party. This is a welcome decision,” he said.
Dr Surendra Jha, a leader close to Thakur, said that another chairman of the party, Upendra Yadav, was playing a game of majority and minority within the party, adding that such a game was over with the decision of the EC. “Now Upendraji must realize his mistake and correct himself. Then, the party becomes one,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Yadav-led faction of the JSP on Monday demanded a seven-day explanation from the nine ministers who joined the government from the party. Chairman Yadav on Monday sought clarification from Sharat Singh Bhandari, Raj Kishor Yadav, Anil Jha, Bimal Srivastava, Uma Shankar Aragaraiya, Iqbal Mia, Chanda Chaudhary, Renuka Gurung and Chandrakant Chaudhary. He has warned that they would be expelled from the party if their explanation is not satisfactory.
