Today’s hearing on House dissolution case over, petitioners now have 2.35 hrs for debate

by .KATHMANDU : Friday’s hearing on the writ petitions registered against the ‘unconstitutional’ dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) has concluded.
Senior advocates Shree Hari Arya, Mukti Pradahan and Gopal Krishna Ghimire and advocates Dr Dinmani Pokharel, Sunil Pokharel and Tikaram Bhatarai took part in the debate on behalf of the writ petitioners on Friday.
According to Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana, legal practitioners, pleading on behalf of the writ petitioners, will have only 2 hours and 35 minutes of time, meaning their debate will conclude on Sunday, the next week.
More than two dozen writ petitions including one by Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and 146 members of the dissolved House have been registered at the Supreme Court (SC) against the May 22 dissolution of the 275-member lower house of parliament.
Chief Justice Rana constituted a five-member Constitutional Bench under his leadership to hear the petitions.
Four other petitions have been registered seeking the appointment of KP Shamra Oli as the prime minister under Article 76 (5).
