113,175 people receive COVID-19 vaccine in Nepal so far

by .KATHMANDU: Following the launch of a COVID-19 vaccination drive a week ago, Nepal has administered Covishield COVID-19 vaccine to more than 100,000 people as of Monday evening.
Till the sixth day of COVID-19 vaccination campaign, as many as 113,175 people have been inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine through 191 COVID-19 vaccine centers across the country, reads a statement issued by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
The government of Nepal had received a grant of 1 million doses of Covishield vaccines from India.
As many as 15,329 people in Province 1, 15,024 in Province 2, 40,272 in Bagmati Province, 13,922 in Gandaki Province, 14,640 in Lumbini Province, 6,131 people in Karnali and 7,857 in Sudur-Paschim Province have received shots of COVID-19 vaccines so far.
The government is inoculating frontline health workers, security personnel, sanitation and other workers in the first phase.
Health officials have urged one and all to receive the vaccines without any qualm as the vaccines being administered in Nepal are clinically tested and safe.
As of Sunday afternoon, Nepal’s COVID-19 case tally stands at 271,118 including 2,029 cases of fatality and 266,600 cases of recovery.
