Nine COVID-19 infected die in 24 hours in Banke

NEPALGUNJ: Nine people have died in the last 24 hours (till Saturday evening) in Banke due to COVID-19 infection. They died while undergoing treatment at Bheri Hospital and Nepalgunj Medical College.

According to District COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee, Banke, a 46-year-old man of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolis-6, Dang died at Bheri Hospital at 3PM on Saturday. He was admitted to Bheri Hospital for treatment and tested positive for corona the next day. Similarly, a 45-year-old man of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolis-1 died at 10:30PM on Saturday in the same hospital.

A 58-year-old woman of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolis-4 who was admitted to Nepalgunj Medical College Teaching Hospital died at 9AM on Saturday, according to the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee.

Similarly, a 60-year-old man from Dangisharan Rural Municipality-1 Dang, a 55-year-old woman from Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolis-10, a 35-year-old man from Kohalpur Municipality-11, a 51-year-old man from Krishnanagar Municipality-5 of Kapilvastu, a 45-year-old man from Tulsipur Sub-Metropolis-17 and a 47-year-old woman from Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolis-6 died while undergoing treatment. All the deceased were admitted to the hospital for treatment on April 28.

The number of deaths due to coronavirus infection in Banke has reached 238 as of Saturday evening. Of them, 120 were permanent residents of Banke district and 118 were brought to Nepalgunj from outside the district for treatment, said Tej Oli, focal person of the committee. The bodies of the deceased have been managed in coordination with the Nepal Army and the respective families.
